Locus Charter
Location data offers both risks and opportunities.
The Charter seeks to establish shared principles to improve practices, protect individuals, and serve the public interest.
“Locus” means “place” in Latin.
While data ethics exist in sectors like healthcare, online platforms, and professions like data science, there are currently no common principles guiding the responsible use of location data.
The Locus Charter, developed through international workshops, aims to support geospatial professionals in making applications that benefit society and promote ethical practices.
