African nations are among the most vulnerable to climate change impacts. The narrative around their role in climate action has often been underrepresented, though. GeoAction Africa Report changes this narrative and showcases Africa as a continent at the forefront of implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) for climate action, and the role played by the geospatial and Earth observation communities to drive this transformation.
A comprehensive geospatial story based on robust data is essential to accurately portray this shift. This report presents insights based on a quantitative study conducted to understand the range of geospatial offerings and projects currently underway, complemented by qualitative conversations and narratives capturing real-life impacts. These insights reveal Africa’s proactive approach and innovative solutions in climate action, collectively representing GeoAction Africa.
The report also presents case studies from 22 countries, some of which do not have National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), showcasing the growing disaster resilience in flooding and smallholder farm programs despite limited funding and government support.
