WGIC and GCoM kick off joint efforts to address the geospatial needs of cities with respect to climate action at COP27.
We welcome you to the joint session by WGIC and MAPPS at Geo Week 2023 about the power of public-private partnerships and their impact for good on both the natural environment and the Built World.
In this interview, the World Geospatial Industry Council’s Executive Director, Barbara Ryan, shared the details of WGIC’s participation in this year’s Conference of Parties (COP27). She highlighted the role of WGIC and its members in addressing the climate action at the two key venues, the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) and Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), and elaborated on the key outcomes from both events.
After bagging the prestigious 2021 Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development for its collaborative work on the significance of geospatial and Earth observation solutions in climate action, WGIC pledges to advance its commitment and launches “Leveraging Commercial Geospatial Capabilities for Climate Action in Africa Project” at COP27.
