AI for Good

Public awareness grows around the notion that algorithms drive more decisions. In the WGIC Policy and Trends report on GeoAI, many GeoAI experts present their views on the need for ethical governance around geospatial data.  The report shows how the ethical use of AI is of importance when moving forward in this field. It’s adamant to establish norms so that customers, policymakers, and citizens at large, have confidence and trust in the geospatial industry.

Panel Discussion

Ethical discussions around our agreed moral principles that govern a person’s (or organization’s) behavior are gaining relevance in the context of AI. In this AI for Good panel discussion Barbara Ryan leads Stephen Galsworthy, Caroline Gevaert, Amina Al Sherif, Chris Tucker through issues on ethics and AI. Togehter they will explore how the geospatial industry can be a leading force. Several key questions will be explored, including:

  1. How can we ensure that the industry’s policy positions align with the growing consensus around the ethics and governance of AI technologies globally?
  2. What are some best practices for integrating ethics into their work on GeoAI?
  3. How can data governance, shared AI models, and traceability help in this pursuit?
  4. How will aspects of personal privacy impact the discussions around ethics in GeoAI?
