This White Paper, produced by the UN-GGIM, WFEO, and WGIC, provides insights and data about the value of Integrated Geospatial and Building Information Modelling (BIM) solutions to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030) with a specific focus on resilient infrastructure. Besides covering the need for resilient infrastructure, it also addresses challenges in the adoption of integrated geospatial and BIM solutions. Furthermore, it provides the reader with an assessment of global infrastructure investments, along with an overview of the geospatial and BIM technology ecosystem for resilient infrastructure.

Eleven concise case studies mostly from WGIC members enhance the feeling of urgency surrounding, among other things, our carbon footprint. Mitigating natural disasters and reducing the destruction caused by intense weather systems are two other examples of the successful deployment of geospatial and BIM solutions. Concluding, the white paper points to the importance of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF). This framework provides for societal, economic, and environmental benefits to bridge the digital divide in developing countries. Nine strategic pathways as defined by the IGIF framework are used to draft recommendations for implementing integrated geospatial and BIM technologies to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the perspective of resilient infrastructure.
