This is the first time an S-5B Program has been offered to the public in Australasia, and this delivery has attracted students from across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA. The Program precedes another first for WGIC Member IIC Technologies, as IIC Academy’s S-8B Nautical Cartographers Course is scheduled for commencement in October 2021.

IIC Managing Director Australasia, David Crossman noted: ”This is an exciting and important step forward for the industry in this region and we have had significant support from across the community, including government agencies, academia, learned societies and industry”. The IIC Program is recognised for Global Delivery, allowing the larger portion of the content to be delivered via Distance Learning. IIC have partnered with Deakin University for the delivery. IIC has delivered this S-5B Programme to the public, while all of its regular deliveries have been specifically for its Hydrographic Office clients.
