Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Association – Winter Forum

February 10 @ 12:21 pm February 13 @ 3:21 am United States/Palm Harbor

WGIC participated in the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Winter Forum at Innisbrook, Palm Harbor, FL. The conference focused on new markets, emerging technology, policy and legislation, and innovative business offerings.

A group of consulting and engineering firms come together in the SUE organization to discuss challenges, opportunities, and better technology to monitor and detect changes in underground infrastructure. In the forum, WGIC presented the capabilities that its member companies have.

Spatial digital twins are essential for visualizing and modeling the changes going on in the earth; thus, one can start creating a computer-generated model of this underground infrastructure before actually building it.

Significant technological progress happening in the geospatial industry enables us to detect subterranean infrastructure. As these advancements continue, we will improve our capabilities in mapping, monitoring, and detecting changes in that infrastructure. Mapping above ground is challenging, but mapping below ground where the infrastructure is not visible is even more difficult.
